Proverbs 25:6-7 is an admonition about elevating ourselves to positions we have not earned or been invited to. It cautions us to be called to the position to avoid humiliation. Joseph's life models this so well. He never sought high position and he only advocated for himself one time. Yet, there came a time when God put him in a position of power in front of those who wished harm on his life. God does the same for us.
